Aldo LoL, I'm a very happy person and I love life to the full, I'm also very happy that i don't live in CVO or own a property there. Holidays are enough for me and I think this year I fancy a change, there seems to be too many angry miserable men in the area with not enough to occupy their time. I now believe what I heard in the bars last year.

I think Blue sums up the position perfectly. Times have changed and the days of people queuing up from May to October to pay what owners asked for villa rentals have long gone. It is now a much shorter season and some clients now want to haggle for a bargain. Time for some people to get real and recognise the changing world brought on by the economic dowturn.

You can't blame a person for trying.
My point exactly........buyers will take a cheeky flyer.......

That can be the starting point for a negotiation....if you cant be bothered with their game....just say no thank you...and move on!

I also return to my original point....if your villa isnt renting, you have to ask yourself why??

My information suggests that the rental market in Carvoeiro hasn't suffered overly.

Times have changed for us, all over the world.

We all have to think twice about what we spend our money on and how much.
Personally, I couldn't afford the original posters price, regardless as to how lovely
the property might be. When I look at rentals I look for the nicest of the cheapest.
This may sound tight, or mean, but as every penny counts to me I have to make the
most of it.

It isn't just the rental, it's the flights and all the other things, these all add up.

As has been mentioned before, if you are lucky to rent out at the price asked for, all
well and good. If you can't then surely accepting a lower price is better than no income?
It would at least cover your overheads.

As this is my first post on here I hope that I haven't offended any one with my comments.

By the looks of my earlier comment it seems he's not taken that advice. No obvious bookings for the foreseeable future. :?

Cally, im the exact same as you. this year we had to budget and go for a cheaper place. We had offers for villas/apartments that were around 500 a week but it didnt really make much sense for us to pay that, theres only 3 of us this year so we picked a smaller apartment which is still very nice and also really central which suits us! Last year we paid a fortune for a villa through thomas cook and it was pretty much in the middle of nowhere! I also agree with the other posters that it would be better to have a lower income than none at all but thats just my opinion

I agree Stacey, we are happy to negotiate with potential guests, but have also set the base price to reflect the current climate. Its better to be occupied than vacant.
