Car hire (again!!)

Without wishing to repeat myself, economycarhire offer car hire WITH NO EXCESS!!! Look at the home page of their web site where it states "Our fully inclusive car rental prices provide complete peace of mind as there is NO insurance excess to pay in the event of theft or collision damage"

I have used them at least a dozen times over the last 10 years and have never had a problem with an inspection for scratches on return of a car (not that there ever have been any, of course). There is no hastle with a shuttle to collect the car off-site - they are in car park 4, an easy 2 minute walk from the terminal building.

I have no connection with economycarhire.com other than as a satisfied customer. I'm sure you will become one too if you decide to go with them, Lamby.

I totally agree that there is no excess for theft of CDW but they also go on to say that

"Certain parts of the vehicle such as the wheels, tyres, locks, roof, glass parts of the vehicle (including the windscreen), the underside and interior are not normally covered by the insurance. We do provide an optional top-up insurance which covers loss or damage to items which are not normally covered by the car rental company."

That extra insurance was what I was talking about. However they do seem to have a good reputation and the fact that they include no excess for Theft or CDW puts them heads and shoulders above other companies out there.

WHich is why the insurance4carhire or whatever it is called at £50 or so a year covers you for any little bits and pieces such as windows, locks and tyres. Most excesses do not appear to cover you for these items.
I used to use Sixt, but now have used economycarrentals.com for the past 3 years. THey also do a loyalty discount, no excess and are way cheaper than most of the others. And, apart from August (where they were at least 100 euros cheaper than others) they have upgraded my car every visit.
