Think the link might be www.ayllurecords.com . They claim the music is Native American, which I guess also covers South America.

And if you doubt it's Lincoln, here I am behind them waving . . .

I even made one cry!

At first looking at picture no. 1 I thought that has to be the ugliest baby in a pushchair I have ever seen. Then I realised it's a photo of a woman that's why that blokes crying, because it's his wife. Enough to reduce any man to tears I'd have thought.

Never realised I would stir up such a hornets nest with this subject. Its a bit of light relief tho with all the doom and gloom in this country! Keep it coming!

They must be Incas from Peru
Think they are Peruvians, but if they are American Indians you can't blame the for getting their own back on the White man. :?

They also have a lot of wares for sale at the "Gypsy Markets" They are definately Chilean or Peruvian. They sell those cute sweaters for kids with the 3 dimensional embroidery. Bought one for my grand daughter last year!

I can remember the first time I saw one of these groups. It was in Alvor quite a few years ago when they were new to the Algarve scene. It was in the evening in the square near the church. No backing tracks - they were the real thing (how many do you see nowadays with a drummer and a bass guitarist?).

Their music was laid back and the perfect background for just sitting out having a meal and a few drinks. It was as though they had an evening repertoire different from the more lively daytime stuff.

Because we had never come across one of these (Peruvian?) groups before it was a new experience and is still a nice memory.

Nowadays of course, I can hear them (or a karaoke style poor imitation) in my town centre. In fact when I first saw Mike's photo of Lincoln, I did a double take because it looks exactly like Altrincham town centre (proof that all town centres are becoming cloned all over the country).

Be interesting to know just how many are operating on the Algarve, because they seem to be everywhere you go nowadays. Interesting how the music seems to carry on unhindered as they go around offering their CD's to the punters.
