Keeping a property dry over the winter?

When you live here you don't have to move the units around or run them into the bath. You simply empty the tank on to your plants every few days when it fills up. When the drier weather comes you simply put the dehumidifier away.

We have Daikin aircon all through the house but I have never been that impressed with the dehumidification mode when I have tried it. The fans in the wall units push out cold air and I am never sure how much power the compressor units use in this mode. I would be interested in other people's experiences.

I know most people don't bother reading the "book" and if they do don't take any notice of it, but it does say not to place units in bathrooms. I know when I had a portable one I did place it in the bathroom (as a test) and it filled up almost twice as fast as when in the bedrooms, possibly taking water from the toilet?
