Well said! Has anyone ever got to the bottom of the fiddling that goes on at EU headquarters either? How do they justify such exhorbitant wages?martin wrote:yes how to alleviate poverty ..to be held at the golf hotel in vilamoura...at how much a night plus food and expenses..now why I wonder couldnt they have held this meeting in say Burundi or Somalia...always puzzled me why so many UN and world organisations (olympics)etc ) seem to be in switzerland where they are so rich..why not move these organisations to some poor country where they would welcome the work and revenue created.

The best thing that you can do is to keep as much of your money to yourself as you can and never ever give any to anyone else just in case they waste it.
Believe it or not I do understand to some extent where your coming from but with the exception of your phrase"all people are pretending to be poor" together with drawing your attention to........

MONEY IS ONE THING..... BUT THERE IS SOMETHING MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN THIS.....IT'S CALLED COMPASSION...Nightrider
That is so true, Maddi.maddi wrote:I find it disconcerting that people have a tendency to quote the 'extreme' exceptions to prove their point - the stories in the newspapers, the ones someone decided to make a tv programme about -
- they make the news, get their programme because they are extreme and have shock value (because apparently we like that sort of thing).
I watch and read - be it documentaries, the newspapers, or even the "soaps" and would struggle to identify anyone from those mediums who appears to represent the lives of almost everyone I know - they are caricatures.

Take the story of the Grasshopper and the Ant.....
After years of "paying his dues" while he learned to play an insterment, sing, dance and tell a good joke, the Grasshopper finaly got his big break.
The Grasshopper was hired to entertain the Ants when they got off work.
Although the Ants wouldn't pay the Grasshopper untill the end of the Summer, or sign a contract, the Grasshopper was content.....after all, it was his big break.
Because he was playing for the same crowd (seven nights a week and two shows on Sat. and Sun.), the Grasshopper had to work hard every day to keep his act fresh and new.
From dawn to dusk he practiced new tunes to play, new songs to sing, new dances to dance and new jokes to tell.
(Everyone who passed by the Grasshopper noticed that all he did all day long, was sing, dance, play music and crack jokes)
Each night he would perform for the Ants (with afternoon shows on Sat. and Sun.), and each day he would practice. This went on all summer.
When winter came, the Grasshopper asked the Ants for his pay.
However, when the Ants ran a background check on the Grasshopper, they found that all the Grasshoppre had done all day was sing, play music, dance and crack jokes.
At night the Grasshopper would be in the night club from opening to closeing.
This is what the Grasshopper did all Summer long while the Ants were busy gathering food for the winter.
Naturaly, the Ants were morally outraged.
They threw the Grasshopper out into the snow, and sat down for dinner.
And the Grasshopper, with no contract, no friends, no money and no resources......died.
