If you want to make a stop, we find Salamanca at 2.5 hours from Santander and 7.5 hours from CVO is in the right place and is also a very interesting city to visit.
We always stay at the Horus Salamanca hotel with excellent food and a locked underground car park if your car is filled with valuables. Tell the manager (Sr. Alain Cheroux) that I recommended you and the car park charge will be waived.
Also to bear in mind is that if you are coming down in a U.K. registered car you may have to do the final part on the N125 thus adding about an hour to your journey.

We do not intend to stop, but if we do will give this a try, thanks. Last time going back to Santander we used a small hostel just north of Salamanca which was very good value.

hi all
we had a fantastc drive down from santander stopping overnight ay ciudad rodrigo
we didn't use euro tunnel it wud have taken longer
if u take into account hireing a car if you fly it dose'nt work out much more
plus wen driving down u can bring more stuff with you
