Replacement windows and shutters

I would ask her but she's just gone on holiday.EMM wrote:Geriatric , living up to your name, my post was dated 2010 !!
Sheila, I woud akd your srchirect why he specifies UPVC, is it cheaper ? or "god forbid " does he have a connection with the UPVC supplier.
However from our own experience at home, white coated aluminium looks tatty when the white gets scratched and we have just had some aluminium doors replaced with UPVC and they are lighter and run smoother, also they do not get condensation. The south facing windows in the new house will be shaded so deterioration due to sunlight shouldn't be a problem.
Re: Replacement windows and shutters
Modern aluminium windows and doors with a themal barrier do not get condensation either , they are also much slimmer than UPVC as aluminium is structurally stronger while UPVC needs an aluminium or steel internal reinforcement.
UPVC also detiriorates with time and there is a fault called " pinking or chalking " when the surface breaks down.
This is why it needs inhibitors to reduce the damamge from ultra violet light.
Its is all down to choice however.

OK! what's the conclusion? I need a new patio door in the casa pronto! so I'd appreciate any advice regarding price and service.

The Portuguese don't do "pronto" so best advice is to allow at least 6 weeks for manufacture & delivery.pato wrote:OK! what's the conclusion? I need a new patio door in the casa pronto! so I'd appreciate any advice regarding price and service.

Try Fabrica PVC Tech in Lagoa they are on the Fatacil site.
Tel: 282343325
They fix and install all of our windows which are aluminium.
Re: Replacement windows and shutters
They supplied my PVC ones too. Good job generally & competitive with Sousa & Sousa in Portimao.
