Once you have been stopped and are on the " System " the chances of getting away with overstaying diminish rapidly.

What if you are a genuine regular commuter say 2-3 times a year?

If you are a regular visitor who drives down you should have no trouble provided that your car is not here more than the permitted period over a given time. Keep the tickets for your ferry or channel tunnel crossing journey from the UK here to prove when you came and return tickets if you have booked. I have at the back of my mind that the 180 days in 12 months was supplemented by another figure over a longer period but I can't be sure. You may still get some hassle but you will be in the clear.
