We couldnt get into A Gale Saturday night (Full up on a Saturday night in Feb when virtually everywhere else is empty....must tell you something!!) so we tried Casa Algarvia......Safe ish and nothing special just about covers it....

Also, I dont like restaurants where you can not look up without having a big TV screen in your eyeline.

When I was over for a couple of night in mid Feb, A Rede and Marisqueira were full with waiting lists every night I was there.

We have been going to this restaurant regularly over the last 10 years and it has never failed us. The menu is extensive, the food is good and resonably priced. The service is usually pretty good too, although sometimes when they are very busy it can be a bit slow, but what the hell, just have another drink!

I went in to book a table a couple of years ago. When I asked for a table for two, outside, the waiter shrugged his shoulders and said 'maybe'. I've never had this response in any restaurant in the world, before or since. Maybe? What's that supposed to mean? Maybe I can have a table for two? Maybe it will be outside? Needless to say, we didn't honour our booking. I should've said 'maybe we'll turn up, maybe not'. I don't know how the places with crap, disinterested staff stay in competition with the places that show pride and professionalism in what they do.
