Hi all
Just to say that we had a lovely time exploring and getting lost at Pico Alto, but it was rather a long drive. Hence, we can try this one!
This will be "Hilltops & Orange Groves" from Julie Statham's book page 48.
It should take about 2.5 hours , but there is a nice cafe at the start/finish. Lovely views.
There are a couple of fairly steep climbs & whilst the paths are generally good , there is a downhill one that has loose scree & it is advisable to wear boots & have a stick. Good trainers should suffice.
As always , bring some water.
To perhaps state the obvious , the walk is at your own risk.
The start point is on the EN124 between Silves & Sao Bartolomeu de Messines.
From CVO, go to Silves and cross the bridge.
Turn right and follow the EN124 towards Sao Bartolomeu de Messines. After about 12kms, you will see a turning on your left signposted " Cortes" and "Torre". Turn here and drive to Torre, about 1 km. Park by side of road.
Put it in your diaries & tell your friends.
Any queries, pçease ring 282 380015 , ideally between 0800 and 0900 or 7.15pm to 8pm.

Well, we had great weather and 8 people, but much to my embarressment, we got lost! We nevertheless had an easy 1.5 hour stroll and a nice coffee at the cafe after.
Sue & I walked the route propely afterwards as our " punishment"! Our mistake, we discovered, was to have turned off through the orange groves about 200 yards too early : or,when we met the road, should have gone left, not right!
Oh well, it won´t happen again!
