Walk : Saturday 31 December, 2011: Silves Windmill

Our favourite to start!
Meet at 1000 , outside the cemetery in Silves & walk up to the windmill & loop back via the beautiful countryside beyond. About 2 to 2.5 hours. Do stay for a coffee/beer in local cafe after!

Directions: driving from CVO to Silves , go over the bridge & turn right. At the roundabout , turn left towards the town & the cemetery is about 100m on the right.

No charge , of course.

There are a couple of brief, steep sections. Wear walking boots or stout trainers : poles are a good idea.

It would be helpful if you could indicate if you can come please. Hope to see you all there.

What a delightful start to our Portuguese winter break!

The sun shone, Arlene returned with her daughter Kerry and we welcomed Colin & Jackie and Len & Christina....and the usual 2 dogs. The walk was different, as someone had been bulldozing /new fire breaks in the eucalyptos forest, so we had to descend a near vertical track as the girls up front were talking so much they had led the party slightly astray!

No matter, all seemed to have enjoyed the trip, though we had to hunt around Silves to find a cafe open for a well deserved drink and rest before the evening celebrations.
