August 2011 Trip - Dining comments....

...well, August 2011 looks to be our last trip to Carvoeiro for a while. After 5 holidays there in the last 7 years the powers that be have decreed that a change is needed, so it's off to Spain next year.

Highlights this year:-
A Gale - Fantastic portuguese food, huge portions - no need for a starter, no room for one. The lamb shank was amazing. Good service too.
A Vela - Good food as always, service was a bit mixed.
Vimar - Good standard food, service was fine.
Tia Ilda - Over priced. In fact Really over-priced. Wish we hadn't bothered.

Monte Carvoeiro
O Salmoa - Great quality food, good service.
Mamma Mia - Good pizzas, disorganized service.
Elliots - Meat dishes were fine, but fish dishes very poor. seemed to be using frozen tuna and frozen sea bass. Mushy and tasteless.

Out of Town
L'Orange - Very high quality of food, very good service, a real delight. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Chicken take away - on the In-road - Great piri-piri, great value.


Hopefully we'll be back someday, who knows!

I thought Funky Chicken had closed - is the takeaway still there??

There's another take away nearer the beginning of the 'in' road near & on the same side as the Millenium bank. It's very good, I like their duck rice fried rice.
