Post by pato »

Which Steak House you´re referring to - Casa do Bife?! I wonder because there you normally get real good quality meat and a rather large piece. As far as I remember you can ask for it to be grilled if you don´t like it on the stone.

Casa do Bife - the best sirloin steak I have ever tasted, and cooked (by me) to perfection.

Quality here is very good (assuming Casa do Bife) but we did notice 2008 (twice) the portions were far less than they used to be. And unless they have lower their charges will not be competitive.

Casa do Bife is very good quality and I think great value for money at under 10 euros per person.

Surely you can tell the difference between veal and beef, colour, texture, aroma etc are sooo different.
Obviously your palate is in need of refining

Actually, I had never had "proper" veal before I went to Maxims a few years ago - i thought veal was that whiteish meat that was quite flat. Had something at Maxims that was far more like steak than I had realised.

Under 10 euros gets you a full main course (plus drinks) - i.e. includes chips and vegetables.

Depends what happened to the animal beforehand - if it was bled whilst still alive, the raw meat is more the colour of chicken and has a different flavour to the non-bled animal which will be more steak-like.

Lovely thought, isn't it.

Now we like Casa Do Bife but for the life of me how do you get 10 euros a head. I assume with no drinks starter or sweet or coffee come to that. Does include a tip

For 9.98 eu you get a large (12 oz approx) sirloin steak, plus chips and vegetables, and four dips to apply to your steak.
Their price for wine, coffee etc is reasonable by local standards.
Tip extra!
