lunch
Re: lunch
blue,. can't see how oysters can be delicious! when I had them I swallowed them and all I could taste was salt, even the alleged aphrodisiac properties didn't materialise, are you supposed to chew them or wa!blue wrote:We love oysters too, who's Carlos? We usually go down to Lagos for oysters.
I'll stick to local cockles smothered in white vinegar. Sure the oyster thing is not just snob value.

Guinness and Oysters, aphrodisiacs for men Pato.
Re: lunch
Pato, you need to get yourself over to Carlos's beach bar and try the oyster there, they might not be an aphrodisiac but my God they're good.pato wrote:blue,. can't see how oysters can be delicious! when I had them I swallowed them and all I could taste was salt, even the alleged aphrodisiac properties didn't materialise, are you supposed to chew them or wa!blue wrote:We love oysters too, who's Carlos? Yeah! I know, but how do you mean "good"what do they taste like? I mean it must be like swallowing an egg, surely you've got to chew anything to taste it and release the flavour, not just gulp it down, I used to get my wrists slapped for doing that when I was young.tjthedj wrote:Pato, you need to get yourself over to Carlos's beach bar and try the oyster there, they might not be an aphrodisiac but my God they're good.pato wrote:blue,. can't see how oysters can be delicious! when I had them I swallowed them and all I could taste was salt, even the alleged aphrodisiac properties didn't materialise, are you supposed to chew them or wa!blue wrote:We love oysters too, who's Carlos? I love Oysters, and I always have a little chew first; pour out most of the salty water, squeeze some lemon on, then , either add a little tobasco or my favourite, tomato ketchup with horseradish mixed inpato wrote:Yeah! Re: lunch
Pato, Sunman is right, you have to have add lemon juice and a couple of drops of Tobasco (I tend to leave the salty water in), then chew for a few seconds. Luverly me ol' mucker.sunman wrote:I love Oysters, and I always have a little chew first; pour out most of the salty water, squeeze some lemon on, then , either add a little tobasco or my favourite, tomato ketchup with horseradish mixed inpato wrote:Yeah! Re: lunch
They're gorgeous all plump & fresh, my favourite way of eating them is with a splash of lemon, a dash of tabasco & a drizzle of redwine vinegar with chopped shallots, though I like them pure too. You must chew them to savour the full flavour which is impossible to describe. H & I will usually share 18 as a starter, heaven!

Guess where we went yesterday tjthedj, our first visit to the highly recommended Carlos' on the beach at Armacao de Pera. Lovely! We spent a very leisurely couple of hours there, half a dozen oysters each to start, thought we'd exercise a little restrain we won't next time though as the oysters were gorgeous, then we both had the linguado, the lady who served us was really nice, the food was delicious & the setting beautiful, clear blue skies & sparkling sea just made it near perfect.
If you have a car get yourself over there.
Only open for lunch 'til about 4pm at the moment.

Don't like Guiness and eaten oysters twice and been violently sick the next day - suspected allergy to the oysters, but clearly the problem is I'm not a manSAM SPARKLE wrote:Guinness and Oysters, aphrodisiacs for men Pato.
