I didn't know that it had been taken over.

I went there in June about 6 years ago on my own. They managed to give me not great food and pretty much throw me out within 30 minutes of my arrival. Yes, I was on a table for two, but they were not busy and had spare tables. So I have never set foot in the place again - a shame as it is within 30 metres of my apartment. Not one other restaurant has had a problem with me dining on my own - they were incredibly rude and missed out on not only my business, but that of my friends who stay in my apartment over the summer.

Anyway, I digress - if it is under new ownership then I may well try it again!

btw - the old Villa Medici is now the new Primavera.

We've just returned from 2 weeks in Carvoeiro with a 3& a half year old and a 13 month old and found all the restaurants we ate in totally child friendly, if you're talking about the staff. The Portuguese are so natural with kids, everywhere we went, our 2 were made a massive fuss of. The only problems we encountered were with other tourists, all English or Scottish who seemed totally horrified that our children were allowed anywhere near them. On several occasions we witnessed fully grown men and women literally growling at our kids and shaking their heads at my wife and I as if we should know better not to bring them to such a place. We don't let our kids run riot and although not perfect, they are not badly behaved but it's difficult to stop a 3 year old laughing and a 1 year old cooing. Surely if you hate small children, there are more obvious destinations to choose than Carvoeiro for holidays.
