Superb report, need more like this in order to assit, cost, choice, family oerientation etc.
Excellent point re timimg, although we have no children ,I can quite imagine the timing issue being a problem.
I can see the timing issue being a problem when/ if we bring my diabetic mother in law with us ,god help us, no luv lost between her and myself.
Dear mum in law like her breckie at 7-30-8am, main meal at lunch time at 12.30-1pm and a light supper at 6pm. No alteration permitted, could be predominantly because she is diabetic, however she is the only diabetic that indulges in as many sweet things going at any time of the day.
I can understand this too is suitable timing for kids that like a rigid structure in regards to meal times. Filling them up with junk food at times to allay the problem of time eating in the evenings can cause havoc to I presume.

Do you mean O Leão en Porches, Graham? One of my favourites, a bit on the pricey side but worth it for a special occasion - we have eaten outside on the terrace, and inside - both very nice

Agree, Graham, with regard to restaurants opening a little earlier. Although our children are now grown up, we always insisted on a family dinner at the dinner table. The latest we could get away with was 6.30pm, and the habit has stayed with us. OK we can stretch it to 7.00pm, but we do eat very lightly during the day. When we lived in the USA, it was normal for families to eat at 5.30 onwards. Think Oasis opens at 5.00pm, which must help them catch the family trade. It is also serves very honest, simple food at a fair price.
Oh, and mods., should this be moved to the Restaurant forum where it would be more relevant? I would be happy to edit out the last statement.

On the subject of other restaurants O'Rodizio around the corner from
Carvoeiro Tennis Club is our favourite.
Carved at the table meats, excellent service and very family friendly.
All you can eat for around 18 Euros

Interesting about O'Rodizio - we had a look about three weeks ago on a Saturday at 8pm and it was so deserted you could almost see the tumbleweed rolling across the terrace -is this normal?

I think it was a one off when you looked at Rodizigo, we have never been but when we checked it out in May it was very busy. I suspect it may be one of those places you just don't go too, just like Canieros (can't remembe the name) and that rubbish Italian one at Sesmarias.

Nope - that one wasn't tongue in cheek - it was actually deserted (it looked closed but I didn't wander too far in to avaoid being accosted) Will look again during my 7 week long summer inspection - there is just so much to inspect

Went to the rodizio tonight & wasn't hugely busy, just two other tables apart from ours. The food was really good, couldn't fault it at all & very good service. For the rodizio it is 16.50 each,so for the 4 of us it was 66 euros, however it was a further 50 euros for drinks & coffee which I thought was a bit steep. This aside I would definitely go there again. They also offer a service where they will come & do the rodizio & caiparinhas at your house if you are having a party, which is a good idea.
