Go up Rua Do Barranco - on the left with a big tree in the middle of the tables. Good food cooked by two mad chefs on a grill plus kitchen staff. Good waiters (pretty too! - at least the girls) with a good sense of fun. Great music on a Friday night!

Trattoria

Post by Stevie-C »

It's a shame to read so many bad reviews about Trattoria. My family and I enjoyed eating there a couple of times this year as well as having takeaway. Although the service was kind of slow, the food was good and the staff were always very polite. I will be returning to CVO in 2008 and wanted to go back to Trattoria so I will be looking out for future reviews

Cheers

Worst takeaway - A Challenge

Post by Stevie-C »

I had takeaway from the Indian restaurant beside Elliot's in Monte Carvoeiro (July 2007). I my opinion a worthy challenger for the title of Worst Takeaway. All comments welcome

We had a meal in the indian restaurant in Monte Carvoeiro, ordered about 5 different types of curry. They all arrived with the same kind of strange brown sauce covering them & all tasted the same.

We tried the Trattoria with my daughter and her children. We have a villa on QDP so it is very handy. The food was awfull. Even the kids complained, and they will eat almost anything. Not bothered to give it a second try. Prefer now to go to O Branco, which is also in easy walking distance, and has excellent food at very modest prices.

Oh well, might have to stay away from Trattoria next year. More by luck than design I have a villa right next door to the one I rented this year and O Branco is a 2 minute walk away (if that is the newish looking one with fairy lights outside). We tried it and found the food to be OK and the prices were OK although, not much cheaper than Monte Carvoeiro. We were the only ones eating there that night and decided not to go back because of the lack of atmosphere.

Stevie,
We ate there 3 times on our last visit, mainly because I can have a drink and not have to worry about driving. There was only one occasion that there was someonelse eating. It is the main reason I give it a mention now and again since would hate it to close. The only place I know that you can get quality bottle of wine for less that 10 euros.

Not sure how well you know CVO westside. If you go up the hill from the village to Monte Carvoeiro you have a choice of 3 roads. Take the left one through Carvoeiro Clube, and you will come to O Branco on the left, opposite the QDP appartments. Hope this helps.

Wouldn't want O Branco to close either but it looks like they need to do something more than they are to attract new business. Perhaps this forum will help - as I said, the food was OK - so come on all, give it a try.
