Nice food!

Post by fmm »

I went over for the weekend and managed to eat in my favourite three restaurants. I have to say that Maxims is definitely the best food I have had in carvoeiro, the service is second to none, and I have never had a poor meal there, no matter what I have selected. A true dining experience.

We also ate at A Gale - nice meal, but a little uninspiring - enjoyable evening, although I hate being pushed out of a restaurant when they think it is time to close (although I am sure they had homes to go to!)

Had lunch at Marisqueira - best fish, but they still serve brussel sprouts with everything. Slightly old, off colour ones which taste fine, but make the food look washed out. I am being REALLY fussy here! The fish was fantastic though - can feel my mouth watering as I am sitting here in England looking at the rain.

Had lunch also at A Rede - very pleasant food, lovely weather, sat outside - good food, not a bad price, just not one of my favourite places to eat but can't decide why!

Where are your favourite places to dine?

Easy:-
Jota Litas
Columbos
A Gale
Casa Algarvia

Difficulty is, not sure which order I prefer, but I do make sure I eat in each one while I'm over there 11 days and counting.

Nice food

The restaurants that you have mentioned are all good - but I think that L'Orange is a step beyond. Excellent service ( French style) superb food, and an owner and chef that take the time to check with each table during dinner. :D

Couldn't agree more Canada about L'Orange, we've always had super meals there.

Roma used to be good too and I hope it will be again under new management :)

I enjoy Colombos food too. I feel at ease there, its friendly and Ive known the owners & Annette for some years now. Cook Fatima is a friend too, lovely lady and her fresh made chocolate mousse is scrumptious :P

eaten at Happys a few times and enjoyed the fish there, specially the trout

Ive had some nice food at Casa do Pao also.
