Had lunch in ferragudo this week in the main square, think it is called portirade or similar. Choice of soups, I had the fish soup and very nice, choice of meat, fish or fresh cooked pizza, choice of desert, had chocolate Viennese, coffee and a drink of choice. Roaring fire and nice surroundings, 8 Euros. Beat that

When we were out a couple of weeks ago, Ferragudo was flooded. I think it was a combination of rain, high tide and strong winds. If it had got a few inches higher the N125 would have been flooded at the new bridge.

Fim do Mundo was open last week and last year stayed open throughout the winter.

We were going to have a meal there but we were put off by the absence of a menu outside. It looked pretty busy.

Fim de Mondo gets a big thumbs up from me, one of the best meat dishes I've had for a while, beware the free drinks at the end of the meal, they come in some sort of tin barrel rocket shaped type thingy, and it tastes just like rocket fuel. Jo and Vasco, who run the place live in the quinta you can see from the 6th Green at Gramacho.

The grappa that Jo brews on her farm is lethal, I agree sam. Its one of our favourites too,
Restaurant Nuvo (may have name a bit wrong) is further down the alley from Fin do mundo on the end.
Typical portuguese and run by two guys who are lovely!. Food very good and very reasonable.

I think you mean restaurant Velho Novo and yes they are open at the moment. They are closed on Sundays but apart from that open from 6pm. From memory, they stayed open throughout the winter last year, but don't quote me on that one!

When in Ferragudo we always eat at Restaurant Praia Grande which overlooks the beach of that name to the East of the main town. Nice bread and olives, soup, a large mixed omelette and chips with a salad, large beer (in fact too large), and a coffee. All this for 18 euros a head, a view to kill for looking at the sparkling blue sea, sitting outside in the sunshine wearing shorts and T shirt, and having to remind myself that it's the middle of November and only a month to Christmas. Oh, how I am missing it.
