O'Salmoa - a relaxing meal!

Good comments alantansley - I presume it has not changed ownership - if so, you are right - they need to be more attentive to what is being said because if they are taking things for granted, then only disaster will occur - which will be a shame.

We have been there just the once, and it was quite good. Dont remember the food being all that special, but the attention from the owners was very good, and we had a good evening.

It will be a shame if it's gone down. The only other restaurant we tried on "Monte Surbiton", was Boteca, and that IS DIRE!!!

We ate at this restaurant last week & had a wonderful meal. The atmosphere was great & the service was fantastic. We found the staff very friendly & pleasant but not too intrusive. We didn't feel rushed & yet nothing took too long. We loved the food, cooked well & the sauce was delicious. We are looking forward to returning asap.

Went recently the food was fine but not as good as it used to be, the service seems to be run by the kids now all very nice & efficient but absolutely no characters or personalities just blah-nd, we're not after a cabaret far from it but signs of a pulse might be nice, not that this restaurant ever had any atmosphere in large quantities but the food was what made the restaurant so good. Won't be rushing to book again, though if friends invited us I'd be happy to go.

Ed and Cristina! Who recalls the Haven in Portimão? Anyone know what happened to Jimmy from Mariners, Portimão? It is totally banged up it seems

As regular visitors to O'Salmao we have never been disappointed but earlier this month we did notice people were having to wait a long time for their food. Fortunately we didn't have this problem but we do go "for the evening" so are not in a great hurry to get served.
Regarding the family, who we think are really great, we thought the lady was portugeuse, the chef, her husband, from Lancashire - hence the Lowry paintings, the daughter Ana and son John both born in Portugal but John went off to Glasgow to train as a chef and returned with a strong Scottish accent. I belive he is off to Australia in the New Year for two years so what his accent will be like then, heaven knows.
My husband enjoys the mussels farcie and I had the monkfish tart for the first time this month and thought it was "melt in the mouth delicious". The lemon meringue is to die for and the fish soup is lovely. Lots of things I would recommend - just depends what you like. We don't go for currys or pasta so it's just personal taste in the end. One of our favouriste restaurants at the moment and near enough to our villa for us to walk, which is always a plus. Looking forward to a return visit in October - hope they have "not lost the plot".

We are Salmoa fans and like many year round regulars we avoid the silly season and gernerally get excellent service when we go there.
We too are great fans of the monkfish tart to a degree that we will order it in advance. It should be on the main menu as a larger portion.
It is not the cheapest and for us it is the best ( So far ) restaurant we have eaten at in Carvoeiro ( Sorry Ele and Ela fans ).
