Having cooked for 8 people + toddler again this year (in UK), we were wondering whether to stay on in Carvoeiro next year, and go out for lunch. Anyone eat out, and would like to report where, and how it went?

We were open and had a full house each party choosing what time they wanted to arrive and then having the table for as long as they wanted. Mark and I certainly had a great time and from the comments that were left in our guest book and the feedback that we received, everyone seemed to have had a wonderful lunch and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

You are right Wallis is a piece of work having a go at majas who are doing him no harm.

He also has been badmouthing poor George from Algarve 2000 on this site for years about the quality of his food. George of course is totally oblivious to all this. Take a look at the 'Christmas' posting under General - he has told a bare faced lie that alagrve 2000 was closed when this is not the case at all!

Poor George and his partner Karen have been working extremely hard to keep alagvre 2000 together for many years. Indeed they had a special promotion on over the last 4 months - advertising in the press and local radio and was a huge success. His food is very good and he has a great Indian chef. None other than our Sir Cliff Richard eat there some weeks ago! What do you think of that Mr Wallis.

You seem to be one of a very few bunch of people who have a go at algarve 2000 continously. Most people like the food and George. What's you agenda Mr Wallis??

Are you affiliated to Phoenix Nites in some way, shape or form???

Hi Sharen! don't know about the "shape or form", but as we look after my granddaughter on a daily basis and live in Monte Carvoeiro, we tend to use Phoenix quite a lot, more so in the summer months as it is so child friendly,which is why we were there for Christmas!!!

Jan does start her post by admitting she might be pushing it and I'm sure she would have understood fully if the post had been moderated. The thing is that both Jan and Mark see themselves as cvo.com people. They go out of their way to help. The other day, they were offering to give some cooking ingredients to a needy soul. Somehow, I can't see the other restaurant owners who try and advertise by creating bogus accounts, doing that.

I'm sure a lot of us are interested in how the Xmas lunch went and are glad it was a success.

It was a really good question to ask. Like many readers I have thought about spending Christmas in Carvoeiro but never actually done it. Other peoples experience - good and bad - might help the decision process?

We have spent the last 3 christmas's at the Tivoli Carvoeiro, this year was a little damp and quiet but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The previous 2 years the sun shone most of the time with temperatures in the early 20's. We have since returning home felt the need to return for Christmas 2010 .

The previous 2 years we have dined on Christmas Day at La Bella Vita, 2008 was excellent, 2009 not so good.The food was good but a seriously bad smell of old cooking oil wafted through the restaurant spoiling the evening. It was so strong we had to have all our clothes dry cleaned .

Normally there are plenty of restaurants open but you may feel the need to book if you wish to go to a particular restaurant.

I do know that Maximes does a brilliant Christmas dinner but you have to book early as he gets booked up very quickly, in fact some friends are already booked for next year...
