B1d is dead right.

Shellfish a basically the seagoing equivilant of land based insects.
The revered lobster , for example, is a direct relative of the woodlouse.

We pay a fortune to eat Lobster, crab anf prawns, all of which are basically there to dispose of dead and rotting matter on the seabead, including in some instances our poo!!

Could you imagine sitting in a restaurant debating whether to have wood louse or cockroach.....or maybe earwig?

Well somewhere like Thailand yes!

I was poisoned last year eating crab, Iv'e never had such pain. My husband slept all night just adding the odd 'shhh'. I slept all the way home from France the next day. Never been so ill.

Hospital Particular....oh yes ! I've spent a few dazed hours / days in there with my dad who succumbed to food poisoning (suspected shellfish) a few years ago and it put a few stresses on his heart. Once his sytem had been "cleansed" he was warned to keep off rich foods. So upon his "release" we ventured into town and he ordered a steak with peppercorn sauce and duly enjoyed the port. Upon arrival at home he developed gout.
I think shellfish is a bit of a risk - surely the potential pain should out weigh any pleasure in eating the stuff. As for lobster - well I've tried it but I can't justify the financial aspect. Give me chicken anyday

You mentioned the word 'poo'. I don't like this thread. Can we close it please now!
