Why bother going back to a place you've had a bad meal in? There are SO MANY other places to choose from why risk having ANOTHER bad meal?
There really should be no excuse for a "bad meal" they do the same dishes over and over again year after year so should be well prepared ahead, nothing should go wrong.
I've had a few (could probably count them on one hand) bad meals over the years and have never gone back, move on to the next place. Who knows you might be pleasntly surprised

Biffa, I agree, it takes a long time for a customer to have the confidence to return after a duff meal, personally I never return, never ever ever, so, don't invite me to your home for a meal and screw it up

Pato, It is very good food when she serves it and IF you get invited - trouble is I can never remember it afterwards! Must be something in the water.

If you have a bad meal and are unhappy , complain , if you dont complain then how will they know , give them the chance to put it right.
When we ate at A Rede the other night the waiter misheard and put the Piri piri on my chicken. The very English thing to do is to moan and then tell your friends.
I complained they brought fresh , were very apologetic and didnt charge for our drinks and the food was lovely. I f you dont complain how can they improve , I always give a secound chance , everyone has an off night !

I disagree, I think that if they've got a place up and running there should be NO off nights.

There are many, many reasons why a restaurant may experience an off night from sudden staff absences due to illness, bereavement, accident, etc. to equipment breaking down for no apparent reason, or staff come to that. But the owner/manager/whoever should always explain to his customers if there is a problem otherwise they will never give them a second chance. I think that anyone who thinks that once you've got a business up & running there should never be any unforseen circumstances that may cause a problem has either been extremely lucky or never had a business.

Amen to that - trouble with a lot of restaurants down here is that they do not do their homework, they just copy off the neighbour's price list.

these people are in business and its thier job to provide good food , no off nights are acceptable, a bad meal can not just ruin your night but your holiday if they give you food poisoning, if i have a bad meal i never go back and yes , i would complain, luckily we never had a bad meal in cvo, in fact it was probably some of the best food we have had anywhere , keep up the good work

Well giving your customers food poisoning is a little more than having an off night

. Interestingly my daughter suffered a severe bout of food poisoning when she visited us last year, the culprit? The lovely & ever popular restaurant at Caneiros beach, do we still go there? Oh yes, because I know when dealing with seafood especially shellfish these things do happen even when they've been very careful.

Biffa is right both my husband and I ended up in the Hospital Particular for 3 nights, we are certain it was from a Cheeseburger, something we don`t often eat and have never eaten since!!!! We were both in the same room together in the Hospital, the nurses called it the honeymoon suite. I don`t think so!!!!

I quite agree with you on this issue, if you eat shellfish you know that one could be off. After all they are little more than filters!1 saying that I think I have only been ill once after eating clams and that was about 20years ago, not a bad record is it?
