Restaurants near to Monte Dourado

Post by hefs »

Hi,
We are staying on the Monte Dourado complex mid June and wondered if anyone could recommend the best restaurants nearby. We are a party of 4 adults and 4 children under 9 so obviously it would need to be child friendly, although having been to Portugal before I think most are. I think 'Restaurant Hill' is very close so wondered what the restaurants there are like?
Thanks for any help

Restaurants near Monte Dourada

Vimar grill at the top of Estrada do Farol is a great spot as good sized tables and outdoor play area and a good varied menu. Doesnt seem to be reviewed much on the site but we love it. Its alot nicer than A Rede next door. Also try the chinese on left as you go up the street. Good Indian takeaway fron O Indiano and chicken/ chips/salads/ stews from Gallo dOuro. Try out the frozen pizzas(Dr Oetker nicer than UK) from Alisuper on Rua do Cerro. The Portugese love having the children in their restaurants.
Great crepes and ice cream at Cafe Fino, Danone and the other one near the square whose name escapes me!
No shortage of good eating. Enjoy

Hi,

Casa Palmeira (Portuguese food) has plenty of space, but is somewhat off the main roads - anyway it's within walking distance. If you leave MD to the East turn left (do not go down to Estrada do Farol) and it's some 200 m away. Prices are medium high - I recommend Cataplana or Arroz de Marisco.

We are staying at MD from next Saturday and will go to Casa Palmeira at least once in the next two weeks (usually on Sundays when our favourite "A Marisqueira" is closed).

Cheers, Burkhard.

Have just returned from Carvoeiro - cannot believe the increase in prices in some restaurants, add this to the poor exchange rate and it was much more expensive than last summer.

We love Oasis and found they were still good value, and they are close to Monte Dourado.

With a large party it is usually best to book, wherever you go.
