Wasps AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

Ahem.

I was wondering if anyone had any idea how I can prevent wasps from hovering around my swimming pool. They congregate around the steps whihc lead into the pool as it's shallow. I've searched the whole property for nests but to no avail. I have friends coming next week and I really want them out of my pool and out of my life!

I am waging war!!!

Have you got lavender growing nearby? That might be the problem.

Hi Lizzie, we have they same problem with ours, we found a couple of nests under the roof tiles on our utility room and sprayed them, that helped for a while but they came back again. We tried a wasp trap using jam and a plastic bottle with a hole in the lid big enough for them to get in but they didn't seem to go for this, it is the water they need to cool the nest down.

It is hard to watch them but try and see in which direction they fly off and see if you an work out where the nests are.

well if you have a nest nearby the wasps will really go for you (I know having being stung numerous times) while they they protect the nest..dont know why they congregate by the pool ..same problem here...maybe they just like having a dip after sunbathing??? I had wasps nests in the bottoms of shutters and in air bricks..everytime went past house got stung five times

Has anybody noticed that since the cloudy days and the rain there seems to be less wasps wanting to drink your pool

As I said, they need the water to spray into the nests to keep the larve cool, which is why they go for water and not the traps with jam etc in.
