the naked flame

it is always interesting how when a law is made ..someone always finds a loophole

there is or was in portugal a law that said there it was not allowed to have a naked flame except under a tiled roof ...well with fire risk yes a very sensible answer.

it was then that at one protest march in lisbon years ago that students decided to disobey this law...they all carried cig lighter which was lit in one hand but in the other hand they had a single roof tile over the naked flame.

the police couldnt arrest them - for over their naked flame they had a "tiled roof"
