PROPERTY AUDIT

Post by tbbr »

I have been told that for the past 3 months both Lagoa and other councils have had their planning departments audited by central government.

The purpose has been to check into the granting of building permits ( some as far back as 8 years ago ).
This has obviously resulted in major delays in the granting of new permits.

Apparentely they have not found any major illegalities in lagoa but in other areas ( monchique ) there will be problems.

Does anyone else know about this ??

Hi tbbr,

Doesn't surprise me, as read quite some time ago (last year I think) in a National newspaper that officials in Monchique were to be investigated regarding the granting of illegal building works in ecological and protected areas. They should do Silves...that would make VERY interesting reading indeed

Maybe Portugal is finally tidying its act up...but I won't hold my breath :D

I have been told that it is a national program and that eventually all councils will be checked.
