Unlike some at least youre doing the right thing - research you cant seem to do too much (I thought Id done plenty but I know nothing really when we first came here)

1)Read this site as much as you can - within the banter and (sometimes) abuse there is a lot of valuable stuff from all sorts of people

2) I would always recommend a book called "Buying a Home in Portugal" by David Hampshire (Survival Books) - waterstones will get it for you and its worth every penny.

3) If you visit - talk to as many expats as possible - the Thursday sessions at Anteak are a good starting point - everyone has a story to tell and most seem to be worth the listen.

4) Work - be prepared for low wages !!

5) Be prepared also for massive frustration at the bureaucracy and accept that nowhere is perfect

Good luck - if there are any specific things you need to know later youll find plenty of advice here

Depending on where you are thinking of moving too, take a look at http://www.rainbowtradingpost.co.uk/gallery1.html
Our house was on this site, nice people.

It's at the end of the 'out' road of Carvoeiro - Rua do Barranco - on the left hand side.

There is usually someone from cvo.com there from around 6.30

See you there!
