Hi John,

Please consult the following page for carvoeiro.com advertising rates

http://www.carvoeiro.com/advertising/

Thank you.

@Guest UK
The garden maintenance for that kind of garden should be around 120€ per month.

Sorry, it was not intentional. How much do I owe and to whom do I pay?

John,

The forum is not supposed to be an advertising space and there are no "rates" for posts like that. However, as there are several villa managers paying for adverts on these pages, I would kindly request that you edit/delete your post.

Thank you.

Hi Guest,
For a similar sized villa I pay 195 euro's per month for the 5 day maid service plus holiday pay 3 weeks. A 2000 metre plot mix of borders ,lawn etc. i pay 160 euro's per month. I don't know if this is a good price or not but the staff are great and i get great value.

....is that including social security?
Don't think the finance department does not care, they do - and if they have not paid you a visit yet, its because they have not got round to it.
Illegal labour is a crime and both employer and employee can be prosecuted.

A word on maids:
This is a person who will be in the most direct contact with your house. If you want somebody to look after your property, it would be a good idea to make sure that they are being treated well. A good maid will always want a fixed contract with the benefit of social security. A good maid will be your eyes and ears on the ground, if something is amiss you can trust her to act responsibly and notify you.

Be smart about this.

Amazing.....I knew that little €5 Euros per hour would get the ball rolling once again on Illegal/ Minimum wage etc etc........so what is the minimum wage here in the Algarve.....?????......we have had this discussion many times ..(I'm still not sure what the Min wage is) What I do know is that The great majority of Maids that work part time for Foreigners ger paid Cash in Hand . I took on my maid because she was working for LOCAL restaurants that used her like a slave for €3.5 Euros per hour.....until midnight....as do many local Carvoeiro Bars and Restaurants...yes they get SS....but they are treated very badly.....I didnt really need a maid (Retired) but took her on as a favour.......she is very very happy and has almost become part of family with Xmas Presents and of course a little bonus here and there....If she is off sick...we still pay her..SO...please take a look at the whole picture..I can tell you she is as happy as pie not to work in the sweat houses of the Carvoeiro bar scene.......OH by the way my Daughter is out here right now....just gor a job in the Village in a very well known pub on the hill........€4 per hour...and no Tip sharing....Cash in Hand....business is not good right now....but she is happy to get anything....This is the real world.....

Hi Gurest,

I think you have to be flexible. I pay extra for some specific tasks e.g. planting up new borders, but cutting trees and hedges is part of the general upkeep of the garden.

The official minimum salary for a maid is € 375 per month or € 9.40 per hour (for her minus 11% social security) plus 24% social security.
