"PT Simples"

PT Comunicações “Simples” service seems to offer all national calls at €0.05 a minute (€0.30 a minute to mobiles) with no monthly charges. This would seem ideal for us as we only spend a couple of months a year at the house ourselves and our clients have their outgoing calls restricted to the local area. Seems too good to be true! Does anyone know whether I’ve understood this correctly or are there hidden charges that I’ve missed?

Being a cheapskate, I text the UK and ask them to call me using a BT “lo-call” (0845) number

I use Ekit.com. They provide cheap access from many many countries. You simply register, then are given a account number and password.Load up the yoru account using a debit / credit card. Works well for us . Euro 0.31 per minute form Portugal to UK and USD 0.20 US to UK

looked good until you read the us 50cents added to all calls connected that makes it approx 80 cents for first minuite then 31 cents per min after then or have i got it wrong

Are the call rates quoted here correct ?? - Im pretty sure even Portugal Telecom's standard international rate from PT to the UK is less than 0.30 per minute and there are several lower cost options (world brokers etc) - am I too missing something ??

Been investigating this “PT Simples” today. We dont have a phone at home because we have a cable internet connection and a couple of mobiles.....however I thought I might save a few cents occassionally when phoning a fixed phone.
The Simples advert says “sem mensalidade” which means – as guest too says – no monthly charge. But what they really mean is “no monthly charge except € 12.66 + 19% iva for the line” (Oh and you get a discount of €1 after 30 calls

) this is deliberately misleading, a rip off and I think I’ll forget it.
In fact all publicity from phone companies is deliberately misleading (confusion marketing, it’s known as) they offer different packages (with names like “Mega Smile” would you believe) making it impossible to compare prices with other phone companies.......when all we need to know is: how much does it actually cost?
