council tax for building licence

can anyone give me an idea of what the cost of the council tax for the building licence should be, we were expecting it to be around 500euro's but have been told its 1235.48.

I assume you mean the Building License fee........This depends on the size of your villa and the amount of land and where it is ????.......if you'r under Portimao Camara be very wary.....they have a faulty system whereby they ask for huge amounts of money ...we spent three months and legal fees until they admitted their calculation was insane (over 300 thousand Euros.......yes it is true and there were five other pending cases at the time)...eventually it dropped to 1200 euros..........Only in Portugal !!!

Thanks guest, we are in the hills near Messines.The villa will be about 300'm so our 'bill'seems about right.It is our agent who called it the council tax on a building licence.As you say only in Portugal.Many thanks. Liz

Not only in Portugal! In the Netherlands you also have to pay a fee for your building permit and it differs in every town and depends on the building costs.
