Shipping out a Dyson

Post by mardi »

Can anyone help? I would like to purchase a Dyson Dc35 vacuum cleaner and bring it out to Portugal. Does anyone know if you would be able to bring it in your hand luggage, bearing in mind it has a re-chargeable battery.
I vaguely remember speaking to a company that can collect shopping from the UK and transport it to The Algarve where you collect. This could be a suitable alternative but i can't find the details. Has anyone got any ideas on how to solve my problem.
Thank you

Quite a few companies out here who ship goods from Uk.
I personally use Direct a Transport in Porches 282313966
I know I am not allowed to advertise, but only trying to assist.
Great service from big to small items. Good luck.

Is there any reason that you're not buying it in Portugal? You can get them - try searching for Dyson DC35 Portugal and you will find them readily available including FNAC.

Thanks Farol, i was only considering shipping as i didn't think i could purchase Dyson in Portugal. I have already e-mailed Dyson to find out where their stockists in Portugal might be but i am waiting for their reply. I think FNAC are at Algarve shopping but do you know of a nearer shop to CVO? I wonder if you would also know if you can reserve this item so it will definately be there to collect when i next come out?

There is a list of Dyson vendors in Portugal here:
http://www.dyson.pt/onde-comprar.aspx - scroll down to the Faro section.

If you want to phone FNAC at Guia their number is +351 707 313 435

I think it has to do with cost!
We saved over £ 400 by purchasing a fridge from the UK including the delivery, also £60 by purchasing a Vacuum cleaner. I did a lot of driving around to find the best deal here, but no one could match the price for identical models.
In fact, I went in to a local major chain, with cash, who had a sale on for the fridge and they refused to sell it to me stating that it was a a Demo model. Even the manager would not budge!
Best thing to do is compare prices, including delivery costs. If the retailers here don't want to sell or move on prices, go elsewhere, simples!

We have used Algarve Removals for taking 2 sofas from UK to Portugal, but a vacuum cleaner should be able to go as hold luggage, probably cheaper.
Nothing on EasyJet website about rechargeable batteries being prohibited...our laptop, hand baggage, has one!
