Review of Reviews Trip Advisor
Review of Reviews Trip Advisor
Decided to do some research into Holiday Lettings with a view to saving money next year. Don't know if this is fair or representative but they advertise 6500 properties in the Algarve alone!

Re: Review of Reviews Trip Advisor
Yup, those are fair reviews. HolidayLettings used to be a great website when it was privately owned, but they sold out to Right Move, who in turn sold to TripAdvisor who have somehow changed the corporate culture beyond recognition.
Sadly, they also have an exceptionally poor IT design and implementation strategy. Bad features, implemented too fast, with insufficient QA(testing) have led to all sorts of customer complaints. And if you can find an email address on their website to address any customer support issues, then you're doing very well.
If you do a search on HolidayLettings or HL at the forum at http://www.laymyhat.com/forum/ you'll see some more detailed reports from real owners. This is not pleasant reading.
But apart from all that they do advertise VERY heavily so the likelihood of getting a booking or two is quite good.

They work well for us. We are well booked for the year. In the scheme of things just one let in the summer could end up with a fee payable to an agent covering the fee for the whole year for the ad on HL's. We are also very fortunate that some guests have also left reviews.

could you please tell us who or what site worked well for you Licy ?LICY wrote:They work well for us. We are well booked for the year. holiday lettings which is part of trip advisor. HL's charge less than £400 for the year for a standard ad. You are in charge of bookings, photos, write up. Alternatively you can pay HL's 3% for each booking? You can setup PayPal for the guests to pay to. I cannot comment on the old set up of HL's. Reviews on trip advisor can of course be good or bad, can't imagine how I would feel if someone wrote a bad review as I don't think they can be removed. I would guess a bad review could mean less bookings.
