Rusty Pipes

We have a villa built in the early 1980's. The hot water pipes in particular are delivering rusty water. I understand that steel not copper or plastic was used at that time. Has anyone replaced their pipes? Does it mean digging up the floors to replace them or is there another way?

Our house was built in the late 70's and had the same problem . We thought that the solution was to replace the pipes but not needed. Do contact Les, he has worked wonders at our place. Not only plumbing but also great at tiling.

We had the same problem. We had some pipes (not buried) removed (no longer needed) or replaced this year. The internal rust not only caused red water, but severely narrowed the pipes. Since their removal/replacement the water pressure has improved considerably.

Itoo had the problem, the pipes leaked and caused damp spots on the inside walls, I had them changed and don't know hopw they did it but the disruption was minimal.

Usually replaced from the outside by cutting grooves with a nibbling type of machine for the new pipes. The old pipes remain. Almost no disruption in side and when painted the outside grooves are not noticeable.
