Telecoms cost assessment

Post by shanagarry »

Having just passed our first anniversary here as permanent residents and reviewed all the costs we incur on an on-going basis, one of the areas I am looking at is Telecoms to see if anybody knows if there is anything better available.

We have Broadband from Optimus at €31.06 per month on a wireless Kanguru router that does not need to be wired in and it works perfectly. The download speed is not spectacular (3-4 kbs) - but its adequate as it is always on and has never let me down. It serves 6 devices.

Our phone account (landline + 2 mobiles) is with World Telecom and averages €75 per month. The fixed line deal is that all calls to UK, Portugal and Spain landlines are included. The exclusion being calls to 08 numbers and mobiles.

The mobiles get a 'free' top-up each month to the value of €10.30 each (included in the €75).

I am about to sign up for another fixed line (business) at a monthly cost of €19.99 (incl. IVA) with the same 'free calls' arrangement as the existing one.

How does that stack up against anything else that's available - without having to deal with PT :?:
