Has anyone ever applied for a child British Passport or renewed their own through the Madrid British Passport office? Can you help?
Can you get a portuguese professional to countersign your photos, or does it have to be a British Citizen living here or do they have to live in the UK?
Are you able to print the applications forms from their website, or do you need to request the forms by post?
For anyone whose child was born in Portugal - Is it necessary to get a declaration from a doctor at the hospital to go alongside the portuguese birth certificate?
Thought I would check on here before I use my credit card to call the helpline!

I renewed my passport through the Madrid office a while ago. You can certainly download the application forms on line. I can't rember now who signed my forms and photos but I think I used a British local resident with the required professional qualifications. At the time I found a lot of information on line. If I remember correctly you need to access the british embassy site or failing this try a google search. It is certainly worth trying this before letting the system loose on your credit card!
I had problems with the courier service for return of the passport and after my complaints they said that they were revising the system and changing the courier company they were using. Problems arose because they would not deliver the passport to an Apartado at the post office and the courier got the wrong address and left it without a signature.
