I wondered when it would come, now it seems that in some in Germany they will only take euro notes printed in Germany or another stable country (eg not Greece)

I just checked my wallet ..and have one 10 euro note printed in greece (NEIN ) and one 5 euro note from holland (dat is hood)

In Saturdays Mail Peter Oborne had an article in which he expressed his fear of the Euro breaking up and because of that he trys to avoid holding euro notes from Greece and Portugal - the codes for which on the notes are Y and M. He will also avoid notes from Cyprus (G) , Italy (S) , Ireland (T) , Spain (V) and Malta (F).
This sounds rather alarmist but it goes to show the fear around the Euros future

I think it just shows that the Mail thrives on publishing alarmist (normally right wing) articles!

Endearingly nicknamed "the Fascist Rag" by it's readers it seldom offers an unbiased view of newsworthy events.

Yes widge _ I know all about the Mails reputation but actually I find Peter Oborne a very sensible journalist and his views are worth heeding. In this case he admits that it may seem alarmist but the danger is real and I agree. The Euros future in the current form is very doubtful and most people don't realise that the notes , although of the same value , are issued by individual countries and if one of them should pull out then those notes would not be acceptable in other member countries. This possibility is just what martin is reporting in this topic - some Germans already won't accept Greek euro notes !!

The Mail may be over the top at times but at other times it does report the facts so don't just ignore it out of hand. You have been warned
