The price of public transport
The price of public transport
As my car has gone karput, I have been enjoying the delights of the Portuguese public transport system recently, what amazes me is the cost of bus tickets..from near messines to cvo on the bus is almost 10 euros there and back...the train is a far cheaper service where and when you can use it...eg from alcantariha gare to silves gare on the bus is 3.50 ..the same journey on the train is 1.05.
With the cost of bus tickets, if there is more than one of you, methinks it is far cheaper to get a taxi..one taxi cost me 4.50 from lagoa to cvo while the bus is 1.90 per person.
The other day 4 tourists hopped on, to go to portimao, I saw 20 euros handed over but didn't see how much if any change was given back by the bus driver..I cant believe a taxi would have been much more?

Re: The price of public transport
last time I did portimao to CVO in a taxi was last november at 1.15 in the morning and it involved a very roundabout route! - that was €21 so it must be much less than that in the day. I am quite surprised I always thought the bus was quite cheap.
