Pool Heaters

We have a fairly large pool which will need a new heater this year. We have seen an American manufacturer which we think would be the right choice but is very expensive. Can anyone recommend a good heater that works well within it's capacity that we could contact for prices?

yikes pool heating...very expensive...options get a canopy or heat exchanger or solar...try Solarambinte in lagoa..their south africans who know their stuff....they are pricey very pricey but good

I am curently looking at Solar Heating for our pool 12.5m X 6m from an American company Techno Solis has any one had any experence with solar heating

John. I have been looking at solar heating for our pool too. A friend in MOnchique has a solar system and his pool is already about 25C. You will need panels that are about 50% of the surface area of the pool. I am looking at importing a complete system fom Florida. With the weak dollar this makes real sense. You only pay 12% IVA when you import as it's solar energy. For our pool (11 x 6 m) it will cost around 2000 euros. OK I have to install it myself, but gotta keep busy in the winter too.

This has been a subject of some discussion and opinions diverge over the efficiency of such a system.

I purchased the panels from the Portuguese agent and I then paid a fitter to fit them and so far so good.

A little update on the solar panels a client of ours had fitted (these were the ones that went flying several times last winter before the tecnicians got the support structure sorted).

Last Saturday the pressure build-up due to the heat caused a rupture in the system and the panels started spilling the content of the pool onto the terrace they were mounted on. This system is still only a year old.

We will now need to clarify if this was due to poor quality material or a bad installation.
