Internet & Telephone Providers
Internet & Telephone Providers
We are currently looking for suppliers of internet and telephone connection only.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what is available, their standard of service and most importantly the cost?

Hi
We have a pay as u go connection from PT which we had put in last year. Costs around 30€ a quarter line rental and you top up the pay as u go adsl access using a multibanco card when you need it. This suits me as we are only there for six weeks or so a year. The connection has been very reliable whenever we have used it and there is an english speaking tech support which knocks spots off any of the call centres in UK for service!!

Hi all,
Thanks for your replies, but the PT option is not really viable for us as we are here all the time and I use the internet on a day to day basis.
We currently use Cabavisao who are very good but we no longer want to pay for the television and they only offer packages that include TV, hence looking for a new supplier
There must be some suppliers out there who offer these type of packages and don't charge a fortune?!
I will wait to hear

Can you not just use PT for the line and Sapo for the internet? Sapo is quite cheap these days.
Alternatively I have heard that Optimus now do home phone and broadband and their is no line rental as such but I don't know any more and if they do them others probably do too.
TV Cabo may also just do the internet/phone option: http://www.zon.pt/Internet/TarifariosSimples.aspx

Phone & Internet
We are looking at this too as I need an internet connection and phone asap to coincide with our perm move in June. (Got to keep in touch with Grandma - getting her hooked up to Skype - bless!) So any info you get that you wouldnt mind sharing would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all your tips so far - much appreciated.
I went into World Telecom today who are based in the offices of the Portugal News in Lagoa.
The best option they could offer me at the moment for ADSL, line rental and either 250, 200 or 150 minutes of phone calls (depending on the country you are calling - UK is within the 250 minutes) was 56,79 per month +IVA.
They offer line rental only for 12,50 + IVA per month and are also looking at offering next month a wireless internet connection from 25,00 + IVA per month but you will have to buy the modem for 130,00 + IVA first.
I will be trying PT next - watch this space as they say!
