some weeks ago " barry "cvo senior kindly obtained the dates where we could leave large items of furniture next to green bins.
could someone let me know the dates in april? please
and the where-abouts of the nearest tip.
i am hoping to hire a large van to bring in some furniture from some miles away to replace some of ours in carveoiro,so whilst i have the van could do with dumping the old stuff.
i am only over for 2 days in april so if the council collection dates are not any good i need to know the where the local rubbish/tip is?
thanks brian
Sorry can't help you this time Brian since we returned to UK today. Left blue skies and 21C for 9C and rain.
Would love to walk down to the square and check it out for you tomorrow. If only. I'm sure a "local" can give you the answer.
You could dump the stuff near our bins any time of any day and it will be gone in minutes! There are a lot of poor people near us though who are grateful for anything, including what a lot of people think of as rubbish.
Where are those bins located? Our villa manager said that that happened quite alot but I wasnt quite sure. Good to know that things will get used instead of ending up in landfill.
The same thing would happen if you left your stuff by the bins just below the Vale do Milho restaurant. We are amazed how quickly things get 'recycled' - we have seen people cruise by in vans looking to see what has been dumped! We often take bets with each other to see how quickly the items are taken. Its just like a more relaxed version of the 'freecycle' system we have used in the UK.
Brian,
If the stuf is half decent, the Donkey Charity shop in Lagoa will be happy to collect and re-sell. If not, as people have said, puttig it next to the bins works. I put an old hi fi and speakers near ours and within 1/2 hour they'd gone. Better than going to a land fill.
Just call the phone number that is displayed next to the bins and the bulk collectors will arrange a time to come and collect it, a totally free service.
