tbbr wrote:Not only do we have Europes largest Fi track planned for a man made island in the Bristol channel but a bridge will connect it to an indoor disney style devlepment which in addition will include 2 18 hole golf courses where we will be able to play all year round in perfect climatic conditions.

Who needs 300 days of sunshine, 90% less traffic, the best fish in europe when we can have it all in ZOMERSET.
TBBR is understating the scale and complexity of this development. For example he fails to comment on the Cape Canavrel style space research and launch site which will dominate the southern end of the island or the new European Union administration HQ employing 25000 people planned for the north. The new Welsh Opera House will surpass Sydney's ageing effort to the east of the island and in deference to environmentalists a new and improved "Hanging Garden of Babylon" will feature to the west.

Sounds a bit like Algoz!

Hi TBBR

re: UPDATE:

I have just received the following information from an extremely reliable source:-

House prices are static at present and basically over the past year have not moved at all. House prices this coming year are now forecast by HSBC & Halifax to move up 5% so with a static letting market things will not change over the year much unless interest rates come down drastically-this will only happen if a sever winter effects gas suppy to industry and unemployment increases considerably.

I trust this information will be of interest.

STATISTICS STATISTICS etc etc.

" from the office of the deputy prime minister "
Annual house price inflation ROSE for the first time in 6 months in September by 3.3% ( was 2.8% in August ).
The average price of properties SOLD was £186,723.

On offer is obviously another matter.
Why should this be of interest to those in the algarve, your stock dividends, pensions, rental incomes etc are all dependant on a healthy UK economy and the biggest factor in this is consumer confidence.
The biggest factor in consumer confidence is the housing market !!

Hi TBBR,

Please forgive me...but you cannot state that everyones circumstance in the Algarve or all ex-pats from the UK are the same and whilst there is some validity to what you say, nevertheless, would appear to be somewhat naive about the over all picture in the UK. Therefore, with this in mind I sincerely trust that you are being very careful with what you are doing in the Algarve ....in that I understand by what you say that you have bought a plot and having something built:!:

Kind Regards
Nightrider :)
