With the change to cooler weather thought we would stop off to buy 100kg of azinho this morning.
Believe we paid 15/16E/100kg last year it is now 18E/100kg.

Always a fun experience, grandson obviously just got out of bed assisted by Grandad and a set of scales which have never seen the local equivalent of wts and measures threw in a couple of extra logs for luck.

We have used them for the past 3 years as the wood is always of a superior quality .

EMM, Can you please tell me whereabouts this is and whether they deliver?

It is on the road to the Silves golf course, driving from CVO it on the left hand side.

You cannot miss it loads of wood.
I assume they deliver as they do have trucks but as there were only the boy and grandad there yesterday we did not ask.

How long would 100Kg last in a log burner?

I usually reckon on about 1200 - 1500kg for the winter but it can be more if the weather is very cold and I need to keep the fogo montanha alight for 24b hours a day. If you are a resident it is not economic to buy small quantities. The prices mentioned above equate to 180 euros for 1000kg. You can get this quantity delivered for 100 euros.

As part time residents we used approx 700kg last year included dec/jan and most of feb early march. average 6-8 hrs day.

Est we spent 110-120 euros . we had a full household over the christmas period and used more than just he two of us.

our fire's been a bit lethargic so far this year, we blamed the poor draw & the smoke filled room on the winds and rain we had on the past few days,
a friend asked when we last had the chimney swept? and we couldn't remember so we called the guy & he came today; have just lit a fire which is now roaring for new time! big smiles all round chateau nous

haha, thought that might be pointed out, and I agree!

I live with a wife & 2 sons who feel the cold, our villa is relatively old, built in the early 80's by Jorge De Lagos back in the day, we have tiled floors which are b****y cold all year round which is nice in the summer but in the winter they could put frostbite on Sir Ranulph Finnes toes in flip flops, so when the sun goes down it gets pretty chilly in here pretty quickly and whilst I agree that a cardigan & some slippers might do the job I light the fire for the evening to maintain world peace within our 4 walls
