Mobile dongles (again!)
Re: Mobile dongles (again!)
WE have the Cabo package, V good internet and much cheaper calls than a mobile,
Again necessary for us due to business needs even though we re not in CVO for 7 months /year.

Re: Mobile dongles (again!)
its horses for courses clearly - I think I will go phone line + broadband eventually as the house already has phone lines/sockets installed and we have a mains connection which only needs activating. I havent done the research yet as I'm using the dongles as a stop-gap, but If I can get a broadband connection for say €30/mth that will be the similar to the current cost of a dongle, as I use nearly that for every 2-3 weeks that we come out and thats restricting my usage to essentials.
I have already done a test with a neighbours broadband and could connect my laptop to their wifi from more than 100m away - maybe sharing is one answer!

EMM - If you dont mind me asking, how much do you pay for the Cabo package, whats the Mb speed and are there any download restrictions
Re: Mobile dongles (again!)
Do you have cable in the area that can easily be installed in your property.
We had to have it taken from the nearest pole into ours which they did foc but they would not run the cable across any neighbouring ( empty plots ).
I will check paperwork for details but speed is equal to my UK AOL broadband connection and I am not aware of any limits that I have come close to reaching.
For a small extra monthly charge all calls within PT are free but we do not make enough for this to be an advantage.
THe " package " costs more than the dongle but we get TV, Phone and internet connection.
The dongle was too slow for me as I download technical drawings etc and needed something more reliable.

Re: Mobile dongles (again!)
yes EMM thats my problem - loads of ACAD dwgs to download and retransmit. I dont need the TV package as I have satellite, so its going to be a bit expensive I think - will just have to check it out in Jan.
