Upgrading our satellite

Post by Trisha G »

I know this has been mentioned before, during the evenings our TV picture (especially BBC) breaks up. We've been told we need to upgrade to a 1.4M satellite to enable us to receive all Sky channels.

Can anyone give us an idea of how much this should cost us :?:

Thanks

When I say tweaked I mean the LNB (the bit that points into the middle of the dish) It's a two person job (someone needs to be watching the tv) but tune to the worst channel and start tweaking gently.

High winds can move the dish a fraction out of alignment and readjustment will cure this. However the amount of movement to achieve a the best signal is sometimes minute. The professionals use a meter connected to the LNB output to make the adjustment but you can use trial and error. If you ask around you could probably get it checked and adjusted for about €40 - but I have not had it done recently.

If your LNB is old it may be necessary to replace it with a modern one which is more sensitive and which is needed to handle the now weaker signal from Sky
