Wafer Heaters

My apartment has no heating in it at all (apart from an open fire and two air con units which apparently chuck out extremely expensive warm air). In order to stop the apartment from getting that damp feeling (and in order for me not to feel too cold when I come over at Christmas) I would like to have some wafer heaters installed.

I am hoping to come over in October or November to buy some, and would appreciate any info on whether they help the damp problem, what issues you may have had with them and where to get some from.

Hiya, you could try Autoheat in Porches for the wafer heaters tel no: 00351 282310420, we havn't used them but have heard that they are quite good, we put in central heating when we had our place renovated, it was the best thing we ever did, the house is on a timed switch and when we are not there the heating comes on morning and evening keeping the place warm and dry, we have had no problems with damp at all.

Our wafer heaters were in our house when we bought it, they were quite low down and do get very hot, not ideal if you have children. However we did move them further up the wall and have had no problems. Also a word of warning, make sure nothing rests on them as they do get very hot. I tmay be that there are newer ones on the market now that are more efficient than ours were.

Is ther anything you can put in wardrobes to prevent damp? We live very close to the sea and its very very humid here.

What are wafer heaters, out of interest?

Hi Piglet, they are very thin heaters which are fitted to the walls to help with background heating. There is a small version which can go into a wardrobe to help stop the damp, you have to be very careful that nothing touches them tho' as they get quite hot and could be a fire risk.

ahhh...does not sound good idea for our wardrobes then, they are jammed packed!!
