Income/Savings Portugal Tax rates

I understand that there is an option of receiving UK pensions (and savings interest) gross and paying the Portugese tax liability. Has anyone experience as to whether this is advantageous i.e. is the Portugese tax liability smaller or greater than in the UK.

Just a preliminary enquiry as we are not due to move out until next year to take up residence.
