Wafer Heaters

We would like to get some wafer heaters installed in our house in Carvoeiro.
Does anyone know of a reputable company who will supply and instal these at reasonable cost?

what's a wafer heater? is it some new modern form of central heating or just something to warm your wafers?

Autoheat on the N125 in Porches do these heaters, although some on this site don't like them, we have found them very helpful and very good, we had our central heating and water all done by this company.

Hi,

Just a warning about the wafer heaters, we left one on one night whilst we sat outside in our garden, and unkown to us one ofour children had pushed a bed next to one and we had a horrendous situation, the blanket had ignited the mattress and thick black smoke filled the villa, it took ages to clear and I still worry what would have happend if we hadn't been around. They are not like UK heaters, never put anything near them and you will be quite safe.

you can get heat wafers from home, just off the 125 not far past shoe world.

Avery thin electric heater which is fitted either to the wall or if you use small ones, to the inside of wardrobes to stop the damp.

The small ones, which draw very little current, are useful for wardrobes against the damp, but in my opinion they are somewhat dangerous for general heating because of the fire hazard.

These are thin and small heaters which use (and hence emit) less energy than bigger units. OK for wardrobes I would guess although if they can cause a fire if inadvertently covered then they don't sound as though they are really designed to the expected safety standards - there should be a thermal cutoff.

They're not - my sister draped a damp towel over one and nearly set the house ablaze.
