Lisbon to Carvoeiro

Post by Elaine »

We are thinking of doing a cruise next year which finishes at Lisbon. We then intend to drive down to our villa, maybe stopping a night in Lisbon and a night on the way down. Anyone with any advise or experience of doing this would be appreciated. Places of interest, hotels, mileage etc.

 Hi Elaine, I am sure you will get better responses than mine but here goes anyway.
The trip down from Lisboa to the Algarve using the new motorway only takes 2 1/2 - 3 hours. I would recommend going down the coastal road the N120 towards Vila Nova de Milfontes and staying there overnight before setting off again for the Algarve. This area between Lisboa and the far west point of the Algarve is a national parkland and an area of great beauty and diversity of countryside. The Duna Parque hotel has nice apartments and a good restaurants, also the town of Milfontes is on the river Mira, reported to be the cleanest river in Europe, it is very beautiful and quite stunning. Mileage I can't help you with but I am sure someone else will have that information. Hope you have a good cruise and a lovely drive down to the Algarve

Lisbon to CVO is +/- 285 - 290km but if you go the "pretty way" it will probably be up to 350km (about 220m in "old money")

I’ve done the coastal route once, a couple of years ago, and yes it is a good option.
I’ve just found this old topic from last year:
viewtopic.php?t=2551&highlight=troia
and I still think it’s not a idea to check out the two historic cities of
Evora and Beja….. this is an easy route with good roads
