Cabo Visio v PT

We are seriously looking to change our current unlimited internet to another that is able to cope with Streaming TV.
CV is the one I am thinking of. I am aware for some, one area will be better using PT and for another CV. Can anyone comment that has a place near the foot of Solferias? It is rather annoying to have to install it before knowing if it will be any good, plus you have to tie in for 2 years. HELP?

We are not far away from you, just part way down Rampa Mato Serrao on the other side of the hill. We had the Cabovisao engineer out two weeks ago and he confirmed that our connection will be fine for streaming TV. I am popping back on 20 May for the installation. I contacted the engineer directly; his name and phone number are on the Cabo leaflets in R J Tecnica. If, however, you go into the shop above the old Modello, now Continente, on the road from Portimao hospital on the 125 out to Rocha Brava, they will tell you if a suitable connection is available for your address. Bit of a performance though. When you sign the contract they need to photograph passport, fiscal card, a current utility bill and also require a document from your bank quoting your account details, including full IBAN code. I will keep you informed, if you can wait that long.

Cabovisão have now two services without the two year loyalty.

They are "Livre 30" (36,99€/month) and "Livre 100"(19,99€/month for the first 3 months and then 45,99€/month).

Upon recommendation we went for the Duplo Surf package which also gives 33 assorted TV channels. This is discounted to 29.99 Euros per month, the downside being that it is a 24 month deal. We will possibly then add an IPTV - UK box
providing UK channels, which R J Tecnica can supply and set up.

Hi

We have just upgraded to a Blade IPTV box from Projection Dreams. We now have 100 + channels and HD BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4 etc along with the regional ITV and BBC channels (you need over 5Mbps). In addition there are over 160 films (ever changing list) included in the monthly sub which is only 2€ more than the Mag 250 sub which I had before. All in all the picture quality is fantastic!

Just because you have the provision of 4G does not mean you are getting a good quality speed/signal. You need to do a speed test http://www.speedtest.net

You can use the speedtest from PT. (The speedtest runs on JAVA so you might need to allow java to run)

Thanks both. Pickwick you did a speed test for me which was good but speed tests since then are at best 3. My worry is how do we know if having another product will speed things up.? It is so difficult to know what to do as we were ready to change from shared PT arrangement with another couple of properties. No idea how that works mind you.

Go to the MEO shop in Guia Shopping with your full address details and they will be able to tell you what speed you can get with a cable connection.

There is a MEO shop in Lagoa. Its on the continuation of the pedestrain strip just past BPI bank.

The girls behind the counter is probably the most surly person I've come across in PT, which is remarkable given the generally good rep they have for service.
But at least you can get everything without the schlep to Guia.

Please excuse my ignorance on this matter but can someone clarify a few points for me? Firstly, I was on the understanding a few years back that Meo/PT was the only company that installed a telephone line, is that still the case? Secondly, do you still need a telephone line to have internet access that is fast enough for streaming TV or is there now another way?
